The producers of this year’s Oscar ceremony, Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer, had two topics to discuss at the nominees’ luncheon on Monday: moms and lists.
As the 150 or so nominees ate black cod with white wine arugula parmesan sauce, Mr. Cohen tackled the first. To make the show feel more homey, the mothers of nominees will be included — tweeting during the ceremony, taping segments for the 90-minute pre-show. “Please volunteer your Moms”, he said.
One nominee’s mom in attendance, Elena Bonham Carter, whose daughter is up for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in The King’s Speech, said she needed no arm twisting. “Yes, of course I will do it if they tell me what a tweet is,” she said with a broad smile. “We will get somebody to help you with that,” her daughter, Helena, said.
