According to Film News, Jeremy Irvine was “flabbergasted” by Helena Bonham Carter’s commitment to their new movie.
The British actor has discussed working with the legendary actress on Great Expectations. Jeremy greatly benefited from watching 46-year-old Helena in action. The 22-year-old heartthrob found it fascinating to observe her methods in preparing for a role.
“I was surrounded by these great British actors who have been doing this for years,” Jeremy told Cover Media at the Great Expectations press conference at the BFI London Film Festival. “On the first day Helena came in with a whole pile of notes. I was flabbergasted and thought, this is Helena Bonham Carter and she is putting in this much work, and then you realise this is why these guys are so good.”
In the upcoming Charles Dickens adaptation, War Horse star Jeremy plays the protagonist Pip while Helena stars as Miss Havisham. Other members of the cast include British acting greats such as Harry Potter star Robbie Coltrane and Ralph Fiennes. Jeremy revealed more about his time spent with these respected stars.
“It was the most incredible experience in my short career in the industry so far,” Jeremy explained. “I spent a week just me and Ralph Fiennes in a room. I learnt more from that than years at drama school ever could teach me.”
