Helena to attend AIDS fundraiser

Kathy Griffin and Helena Bonham Carter are among the celebrities confirmed to attend Art Project Los Angeles, an AIDS fundraiser, this weekend.

The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 30, at Bonhams, 7601 W. Sunset Blvd., in Hollywood. The red carpet appearances and VIP cocktail party will run from 6-7pm. The event will run from 7-10pm and include a cocktail party, and bidding on art during live and silent auctions.

Guests can bid on art by well-known and emerging local artists at the third annual Art Project Los Angeles. Auction items will include works by notable artists such as Picasso, Warhol, Schnabel, Haring and Ruscha. This event benefits AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) and is presented by international auctioneers Bonhams and Hamilton-Selway Fine Art Gallery. The event’s featured artist is Michael Becker.

With an estimated 60,000 people currently living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles, APLA’s direct care and prevention programs are more important than ever before. The money raised from Art Project Los Angeles will help APLA provide low-income Angelenos who are living with HIV/AIDS with food, dental care, mental health services, and so much more. Funds raised will also support APLA’s crucial HIV prevention, testing, and advocacy work, which seek to end new infections among those at highest risk and to defend government funding that those who are HIV-positive depend on to remain healthy.

Sponsors are Bonhams, Clear Channel Los Angeles Radio, Entertainment AIDS Alliance, Fiat, Hamilton-Selway Fine Art, Metrosource Magazine, Michael Becker, Peroni, Red Diamond and Smirnoff Vodka.

Tickets are priced from $50 and are available here.
