Details Revealed about ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Alice’

Helena Bonham Carter is at the opening of Universal Orlando’s The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Diagon Alley to talk MTV about being bad. But for her upcoming role as The Fairy Godmother in Disney’s live-action re-imagining of Cinderella, she’s channeling something completely different than the Harry Potter movie’s evil second-in-command, Bellatrix Lestrange.

“Yeah, she’s good!” Carter said, laughing, as she told MTV News about the Cinderella role. “She has a wand, she has teeth, but they’re perfect.”

Carter is well known for her out there — and in recent years, evil — characters like Lestrange, which she played over four Harry Potter movies, as well for scenes filmed for the new ride Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts, which opens on July 8. But when she graces screens in 2015, it’s for a part about as far from Lestrange as you can get.

Still, according to Carter, being pure good doesn’t mean there aren’t challenges.

“It’s an icon, it’s a tricky one because a fairy godmother, everyone has an idea of a fairy godmother,” Carter continued, as she sat right outside a replica of the Harry Potter films’ evil Knockturn Alley. “And also it’s kind of difficult to believe yourself as a fairy godmother, because it’s like a myth. You try and reinvent it, try to really believe having the thought of turning a pumpkin [into a carriage].”

Helena hints at new ‘Potter’ scenes

Helena Bonham Carter has hinted she has been filming new scenes as her character Bellatrix Lestrange for a new mini Harry Potter movie.

The cast of the magical film franchise – which ended in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part II – were rumoured to have reunited for a new ‘mini movie’ to be played at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park, and the actress has suggested she has indeed reprised her role as evil witch Bellatrix Lestrange.

Asked about her involvement in the project, she told BANG Showbiz: “I’m not sure what we’re allowed to say. I think we’ve been gagged!”

Quizzed further if fans can take that as confirmation she is involved in the project, Helena added: “You can read into it what you will.”

Filming on the secret project is believed to be taking place at Warner Bros. Studios in Hertfordshire, East England, where the eight full-length films were also made, and it will be screened at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando as well as two new parks which are under construction in California and Japan for 2014 and 2016 launch dates respectively.

Mini ‘Harry Potter’ movie being filmed

A mini Harry Potter movie is being shot in secret at the Potter studios in Hertfordshire, south east England.

A “mini movie” is currently being shot at the Potter studios in Hertfordshire, south east England, and will be screened at some of the franchise’s theme parks.

Helena Bonham Carter has been spotted reprising her role as witch Bellatrix Lestrange for the follow up film to 2011’s Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2, which was billed as the final motion picture based on J.K. Rowling‘s popular book series, which spawned eight big-screen productions.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “The cast have really enjoyed getting back together — they are so tight-knit.”

The mini film will be screened at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction in Florida and two new Hogwarts theme parks, one in California and another in Japan, which are currently under construction and are due to open in 2014 and 2016 respectively.

Insiders revealed filming for the short film – plot details of which have not been revealed – has been “intense”.
The source added: “The shooting schedule is nowhere near as long as the films, so though filming has been intense, the stars have enjoyed being able to pop in and out.”
